This is to formally restate that Omooba Dotun Babayemi of Ward 2, Ayedaade Local Government Area has been expelled from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) since 2022.
The actions taken by Babayemi leading up to his expulsion echo a clear departure from the values and principles upheld by the PDP. Consequently, it is inappropriate and misleading for any political entity, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), to associate Babayemi with the PDP following his expulsion as he sojourns to APC.
The expulsion of Dotun Babayemi from the PDP was a direct result of his overt and continuous actions that undermined the integrity and unity of the party and contravened the will of Osun people. The decision to expel Babayemi in 2023 was taken following the party’s constitution and disciplinary measures, ensuring that the PDP remains steadfast in its commitment to its members and supporters. It is important to highlight that Dotun Babayemi has been an active member of the APC since and before his expulsion from the PDP.
The continuous efforts by Babayemi to leverage the PDP’s name for political gain as he aligns with another party are unfounded. The PDP, as a party, remains focused on its mission and will not be distracted by the antics of individuals who have long severed ties with the party.
Babayemi’s endeavours to attract attention by invoking the PDP’s name are merely tactics to manipulate public perception and should be recognized as such in his journey to APC. The ruling party, PDP, is committed to advancing its agenda and serving the interests of the people, undeterred by the distractions caused by former members. We urge the public and media to acknowledge the factual history of Babayemi’s expulsion and his current political stance.
His current political manoeuvres are purely attempts to garner attention and should not be misconstrued as having any connection with the PDP. The PDP remains dedicated to its principles and will continue to pursue its goals without interference from individuals who have chosen to depart from the party’s ideals.
