•Asks Opposition Party To Prioritize Proper Electoral Contests Over Fraudullent Tactics The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has advised the embattled opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to accept its overwhelming rejection by the people of Osun, rather than resorting to desperate and undemocratic attempts to hijack governance through a state of emergency. The PDP finds the APC’s daily wailing not only laughable but also a clear indication of its deep political decline, forcing them into dreaming of violent political coups into reckoning. The party asserts that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration is a product of osun people’s will, in outright contrast to the APC’s dark and regrettable past in Osun State.Reiterating its stance, the PDP affirms that no court order has reinstated the judiciary-sacked APC-imposed local government chairmen. The party stands firmly behind His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s directive for the newly elected chairmen to work from home, emphasizing that, such a sacrifice is far more honorable than squaring up into the traps of power-hungry elements, whose greed for power control outweighs their regard for the lives and peace of Osun people. The PDP finds it regrettable that the outgone APC has become so pampered and so fraudulently accustomed to political ambush that it has lost appetites and strength for fair and credible electoral contests. Instead, the APC now constantly seeks criminal accomplices to help hijack governments, particularly in Osun State. Their desperate call for a state of emergency is yet another proof of this undemocratic mindset. Our great party advises the obviously flattened opposition not to lose hope or feel perpetually depressed in their present status, but pick themselves up and accept reality, abandon its outdated tactics of electoral robbery, and adjust to the new democratic order, where the people are fully aware of their rights and now actively defend their mandate through constitutionally recognized elections, as practiced in true democracies across the world.Furthermore, the PDP urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resist the undue pressure from his party’s desperate elements in Osun, who are hell-bent on manipulating his good office to usurp Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government without any justification. We state unequivocally that, weaponizing a state of emergency as a tool for forcefully taking over opposition-led states will only lead to regrettable consequences for the country. It is important to remind Mr President that the recent crisis over local government administration in Osun was instigated by the APC, whose armed thugs invaded council premises, leading to the tragic killing of about 10 innocent persons, including members of the public. As a party committed to peace and the rule of law, we recognize that local government matters in Osun are currently before competent courts, including the relisted appeal filed by the APC challenging the January 13, 2025, dismissal of their case by the Court of Appeal in Akure, against the Federal High Court’s nullification of the aberration called Yes or No local government election. To us, legal processes remain the best approach to resolving disputes, not the APC’s violent and bloody tactics. While it is distressing that local government workers have had to step away from duty for fear of being caught in the APC’s crossfire of violence, we urge Mr President, as the leader of the APC and a father to the nation, to call his party’s stalwarts in Osun to order. Their terrorist attacks on innocent workers must stop immediately. After all, no worker would ever prioritize a job over their own life!
